Speaker Series Invitation

Please join us for our upcoming Speaker Series event, “Addressing Hate Crimes: Creating A Safe City for All.”

About the session
Incidents of hate crimes across the country and here in Ottawa demonstrate the need for a coordinated, collaborative approach to address this serious community safety issue. Hate crimes are not only physical. They also carry an element of psychological harm, which ultimately affects quality of life for victims and the targeted community. Join us as we learn from law enforcement officials, human rights experts and members of the LGBTQ community on integrated approaches to preventing, enforcing and responding to hate crimes in Ottawa.

Coach house zoning proposals to be revealed

City - Information, FCA to Members, Ottawa -city, Planning & Zoning  Comments Off on Coach house zoning proposals to be revealed
Sep 252016

Coach houses are secondary dwelling units in separate structures in the back yard or side yard of residential properties. This issue is scheduled to come before Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee on October 6 and before Planning Committee on October 11.

FCA has registered concerns about coach houses, indicating one size does not fit all – that coach houses may be inappropriate in some locations because of impact on neighbours, effect on the tree canopy and soil permeability, among other considerations. The FCA submission is found at https://secureservercdn.net/
